De BlackBerry Storm heeft een slank en elegante zwart design gekregen. Net als bij de andere mobiele telefoons van RIM is de Storm voorzien van alle typische BlackBerry applicaties alleen nu met touch interface. Het belangrijkste kenmerk van de BlackBerry Storm is de nieuwe click through technologie. Dit houdt in dat je werkelijk op de touch screen moet drukken.

De touch screen is niet de enige innovatie op de Storm. Andere volledig nieuwe functies op de BlackBerry Storm zijn dual-mic noice cancelation, visuele voicemail en “upside-down” scherm rotatie.
